Drafting, research, wireframes, QA. If a generated image ever makes it into a design, you'll know.
About
Alley-Oop is the productized arm of Mighty Awesome, a web design and development studio in the Detroit area. One designer, a tight process, and AI doing the parts that never needed a human in the first place.
The studio
I run Mighty Awesome, a solo studio that designs and builds sites in Webflow and Shopify — for clients directly, and as a white-label partner for other agencies. Twelve years in, I've shipped sixty-plus sites and seen the same thing go wrong over and over: the site looks fine, but it could be anyone's.
When AI tools got good enough to draft a credible site in an afternoon, that problem got worse, not better. Everyone can have a decent site now. Almost nobody has one that sounds like them.
Alley-Oop is my answer: AI throws it up, a designer finishes it. Let the tools do the draft; let a designer with real brand and web experience make the calls. It's faster and cheaper than a traditional build, and it's the opposite of generic.
Fast to launch, impossible to mistake for someone else's. That's the whole job. — Michael
Where we stand on AI
Drafting, research, wireframes, QA. If a generated image ever makes it into a design, you'll know.
Customer lists and private documents never go into a model. Brief content is used only to build your site.
Nothing is published that a designer hasn't read, edited, and would put their name on.
